Finding an APOSTOLIC Church

What is Apostolic?

The Search required to find an Apostolic Church must start with discovering what exactly an Apostolic Church is. It would not be fair to say it is a specific single religious denomination excluding all others. It is far more involved than that.

Pentecostal
The words Pentecostal and Apostolic are not directly interchangeable. Apostolic refers to a church that is operating in a manner compatible with the original Apostles, who where Jesus's initial select group of Disciples to the World. An 'Apostolic' church will also closely follow the specific examples of how a church should operate that are provided in the book of Acts. Pentecostal can be considered a sub-group of Apostolic, that in addition to following the teachings found in the book of Acts, place special emphasis on the dispensation of the Holy Spirit that occurred on the day of 'Pentecost', and the gifts of the spirit given to those newly filled with a measured portion of God's spirit.

The Gospels
The first four books of the New Testament provides four individual accounts of Jesus' life among us here on earth. They cover how he is God's promise to us, his birth, early life, his 3 1/2 years of ministry, and finally his ultimate sacrifice on the cross for you and I.

Acts of the Apostles
A wonderful description of the church as it was established by the Christians who actually spent time with Jesus while he was here among them.

Apostle Paul
Paul was originally known as Saul, a religious Pharisee, Jew, and Roman citizen, who persecuted Christians unto death. Saul converted to Christianity after encountering Jesus on the road to Damascus. Saul, known as Paul, then became an apostle of Christ to the Gentiles. (Reference to apostle means literally, one sent forth. Apostolic means pertaining to the apostles, and refers specifically to the original twelve disciples, Paul, and other followers of Christ who did evangelistic work. Apostolic signs refers specifically to the signs, wonders, and miracles performed by the apostles.)
